Delay Trio

SoundHack Delay Trio is a group of three plugins derived from the same basic delay algorithm: a hermite interpolated delay line with variable modulation, and a feedback loop with dc blocking and saturation. Pitch shifting is achieved with a dual head crossfading delay (ala Eltro Tempophon/Dennis Gabor/Pierre Schaeffer phonogene) and is decidedly low-fi. The saturating feedback also allows them to be great drone and noise generators.

The three plugins are +delay (classic delay effects), +pitchdelay, (essentially the same plugin with controls oriented toward pitch shifting), and finally +bubbler (a granular delay in which grains are pulled from the delay line with randomized start time, delay time and pitch shift value).

Windows is in VST and RTAS formats, Mac is in VST, RTAS and AU formats, all are freeware.

a distortion unit which uses various low-order chebyshev polynomials to add even or odd harmonic distortion.

+compand

+compand is a combined compressor/expander plugin. It has a softknee control as well as a switchable rms/peak level detector.

+decimate

bit depth and sample rate reduction for added aliasing and decimation noise. a very noisy plugin.

+matrix

a mid-side to left-right encoder and decoder. for mid-side microphone arrays, but also useful when needing to apply effects to only the center or the sides of a stereo mix.

+phasescope

the standard studio tool for seeing the phase relation between your left and right channels. also includes a bit meter.

Aria Maestosa

Aria Maestosa is an open-source (GPL) midi tracker/editor. It lets you compose, edit and play midi files with a few clicks in a user-friendly interface offering keyboard, guitar, drum and controller views.

As of now, the app runs on Mac OS X 10.4 (PPC and Intel) and can be compiled for Alsa Linux. It has translations for English, French, German and Italian.

xTrem

xTrem is a tremolo unit capable of a nice range of tremolo shapes. It works as a mono or stereo tremolo. In mono mode, the left channel controls are active. The two channels are fully independent except for the tremolo depth setting. This gives it the capability of producing some interesting panning/tremolo combinations.

xEQ

xEQ is a straight forward parametric EQ/Tone Control. It consists of Low and High shelf filters and three Peak/Cut filters. It is very useful for placing around distortion effects. Place before as a tone control and after to simulate a speaker cabinet's frequency response curve. There are some example presets in the distribution that are useful starting points for tailoring your tone. The presets starting with TC are tone control curves and those marked with an SC are for speaker cabinet response curves.

Muxer's InstantSampler

InstantSampler is a simple sampler that records audio from the audio input when a MIDI note is played for the first time. Any consecutive time you play the same note, it plays back the recorded audio with the possibility to vary or trigger:

- Velocity.
- Attack and release.
- The level of the input audio which is passed unaffected while no samples are played.
- Playback speed using the pitchbend control.
- Normal or reversed playback.
- Clearing of the sample memory.

This plugin is especially handy if you want to do some 'remixing' (like stuttering or scratch effects) on your mix without having to make a bounce-down of that mix first. You have explicit control over these effects, compared to other glitching "mess things up" plugins that often do things randomly.
