Problema con Kurzweil

Buenas noches,

Recientemente he recibido (comprado por internet) un Kurzweil MicroEnsamble. La sorpresa me la he llevado al conectarlo vía MIDI a mi teclado controlador (un Studiologic VMK 188). Si en el ME lo conecto a la entrada MIDI in, la pantallita del VMK se queda blanca y no responde salvo las teclas pero que se quedan sonando como si estuviese accionado un pedal de sostenido; esto ocurre incluso con el boton de POWER del controlador apagado . Si lo conecto a la entrada MIDI THRU del módulo, el controlador directamente se apaga... (obviamente el otro extremo del cable al MIDI OUT del VMK...).

No sé, es como si vía MIDI hiciese algún cortocircuito en el controlador... es tan extraño que no doy crédito.

Decir que el controlador no ha dado ningún problema con cualquier otro módulo/sampler (lo he probado con varios que tengo) y que el módulo kurzweil no ha dado este problema conectado como esclavo a otros sintes, probados como teclado maestro.

¿Alguien sabe si existe algún problema de incompatibilidad entre estos dos aparatos o a qué puede deberse comportamiento tan extraño? Y sobre todo, ¿cómo resolverlo?

Agradezco de antemano vuestras respuestas, todavía estoy en periodo de devolución del módulo, ya que ha sido una compra-venta a distancia (por internet).

Bueno, me han contestado de Fatar studiologic a la cuestión que he planteado, diciéndome lo que a continuación reproduzco:

Carlos, we have just become aware of this. New units (manufactured since this summer) will not have this issue, but in the meantime, please read the below, from Kurzweill.

"I have seen some of this odd behavior with the Studio Logic keyboards and the ME-1. I say "some" as I have never seen physical damage born from it. Generally the symptoms reported to me have been non-operation (there are workarounds - see below). It boils down to the fact that :

a) Fatar appears to have used an odd design in their power switches that is causing problems with grounding (under the right set of circumstances)
b) combined with the fact the ME-1's MIDI input jack employs some not so standard wiring/grounding practices itself. In most cases this wiring is academic and causes no issues, but combined with the above Fatar design, this problem can arise.

In a nutshell, you put the two together and you can experience odd powering issues that do not exist in other setups. Unfortunately we do not have a Fatar here to test this 100%, but from the few past experiences where we have had this reported to us, I think your solution is to disconnect the outer 2 pins of the MIDI cable in use. i.e. open the MIDI cable you are using (some offer a screw type plug that can easily be opened) and snip the connections for the outer two pins (which are not used for MIDI anyway; only 3 of the 5 pins are actually used for MIDI data transmissions.)

This should remedy things. If not, another solution is to try running the ME-1 through a transformer isolated direct box prior to your current audio connections (i.e. into your mixer etc). This should also cure things, but obviously costs money to implement if you do not already own a direct box, so try the cable approach first."

Creo que me están sugiriendo como posible solución quitar en el cable MIDI los 2 pinchos exteriores de los 5 que trae. Pero, sabríais decirme, ¿los de un extremo, los de los dos? Si es de uno sólo, ¿de cuál de los dos?

Y respecto a la otra solución propuesta, "a transformer isolated direct box prior to your current audio connections", ¿alguien sabe lo que quieren decir?

Bueno ya sabeis, si pensabais emplear estos dos aparatos juntos... que el studiologic sea fabricado despues del verano.
