Job Title: Lab Supervisor (Part Time), approx. 20 hours per week.

Duration: This is a temporary position until July 31st, 2015

The Lab Supervisor on Berklee College of Music’s campus in Valencia,
Spain, supervises the campus’ three state-o f-the-art Technology Labs,
recruits, trains, supervises and schedules the staff of Lab Graduate
Assistants, provides training and support in these facilities for students
and faculty, and is responsible for aligning the labs to meet the curriculum
of the programs that utilize the labs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise the Technology Labs and the Music Technology Innovation
Lab (DJ Lab) including daily operations, policies, traffic and usage,
and ensuring a high standard of quality support and service
• Working closely with AT Staff, install and maintain software and
hardware systems for all lab stations, including updates and
upgrades.
• Supervise the ticketing system to solve equipment and software
problems in the labs.
• Recruit, train, supervise and schedule the staff of Lab Graduate
Assistants
• Create, update and implement policies for the check-out and use of
Video and MIDI gear in the Equipment Room. Train and supervise the
Equipment Room staff to uphold these policies.
• Provide training and support on modern audio and video software
and hardware, including DJ gear (turntables, mixers, Serato systems,
FX), video equipment (Cameras, lighting, green screen, video mixers,
etc.), and MIDI controllers.
• Offer regular workshops and training sessions to the Berklee
Valencia community utilizing software and hardware available in the
Technology Labs
• Provide technology support to faculty and staff of all departments
• Working closely with AT Staff, negotiate gifts and preferential
pricing from music technology software and hardware manufacturers
• Collaborate with the Academic and Information Technology Senior
Coordinator on upgrades and additional technology projects

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Minimum of 3 years experience working in music industry
• Bachelor’s degree in appropriate and relevant discipline, Master’s
degree preferred
• Master-level expertise with Macintosh-based audio technologies
• Expert-level skills in contemporary audio production software
including:
o ProTools
o Melodyne
o Ableton Live
o Max MSP
o iZotope products
o Virtual Instruments
o Sample Libraries
o Music Notation Software
• Experience as a DJ using analogue turntables and digital controllers
desirable
• Strong experience with video hardware and software, including
Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Excellent communication skills in English, Spanish a plus
• European Union citizen a plus
• Teaching experience in higher education desired
