Key Specifications:
Keyboard: 48 keys
Polyphony: 48 voices (full polyphony)
Sound Sections:
Percussive: Electric Piano, Clavi, Piano, Harmonics
Ensemble: Brass, Organ, Choir, Strings I, Strings II
Effects: Independent analog Chorus Phase effects for each section with shared speed control via joystick; Vibrato for the Ensemble section and Tremolo for the Percussive section
Controls: Joystick for pitch bend (X-axis) and effect speed (Y-axis); separate volume sliders for each section; filter cutoff control for Brass; "Click" control for Electric Piano
Connections: Stereo and mono outputs, headphone output, sustain pedal input, expression pedal input (assignable to Percussive, Ensemble, or both), keyboard trigger output
Dimensions: 824 mm (W) × 497 mm (D) × 127 mm (H)
Weight: 15 kg
Power Consumption: 25 watts
Special Features:
Oscillators: Three high-frequency VCOs with frequency-divider circuits for full polyphony
Envelope Generators: Each key controls two independent envelope generators (one for each section), resulting in a total of 96 envelopes for individual note articulation
Effects: Chorus Phase combines elements of chorus and phaser and can be independently applied to both sections
Build: Sturdy wooden casing for a classic, vintage look
The Korg Lambda ES-50 stands out for its lush, floating sounds, especially when layering different presets and using its built-in effects. While individual sounds may seem simple, their combination and modulation offer a surprisingly rich sound palette.
