Ultra Femme Frequencies is a vinyl DJ set featuring drone and ambient music, where the music is not just heard but inhabited. In this piece, the performer challenges the technical conventions of DJing, often associated with traditional masculinity, through the choreographic practice of DJing with the whole body, a concept developed in collaboration with dancer and choreographer Guillem Jiménez. The layers of sound immerse the listener in a space of stillness and expansion, evoking a tactile sensuality: the vibrations travel from the frequencies to the skin, establishing a dialogue between sound and body. Here, technique is transformed into choreography, turning the body into an extension of sound. Some of the choreographic movements are inspired by gestures extracted from DJ archives, recontextualized in a performative space and infused with elements of Bimbo culture. The piece offers a re-reading of the act of DJing through provocation, play, and irony, exploring new territories on the periphery of paradigms and outdated hot takes.
